Originally the land of Richard R. Crum who settled at Chocochattee under the Armed Occupation Act of 1842. The earliest documented burial being that of Charlotte Crum, wife of Richard Crum, which took place in September of 1842. The earliest marked grave is that of of Jane Hope who died in 1845. The City of Brooksville acquired the cemetery in April 1887 and was originally referred to as Chocochattee Cemetery.
