Methodists in Oviedo built their first church, Foster Chapel, on the site of Oviedo Cemetery in 1878. In 1887, the chapel was moved across the street to its current location. This cemetery continues to be managed by the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo. Many prominent Oviedo founders and their families and descendants are buried here.
